Raising Teachers’ Awareness
You shouldn't say "stand up straight", or "pull your shoulders back"... but then, how should you talk about posture to children? And how can a school day be organised to protect the health of the pupils? But first, why should a teacher be concerned with posture and ergonomics?
School at the core of prevention
Schools have taken the lead in preventing tooth decay: they can do the same for back pain and other musculoskeletal disorders!
You may think that a teacher’s job is not to teach posture or ergonomics: his job is to teach maths, French or history!
Except that better posture makes for better learning. Firstly, because discomfort is a source of de-concentration and disengagement. Secondly, because good posture improves poise, charisma and the ability to express oneself in public. Posture and learning are therefore closely linked!
Here are some of the things Olivier and his specialists can do to raise awareness among teachers. They can also provide pedagogical concepts to better correct children’s posture, better organise lessons and facilitate postural variation.
